Joy to the World – Video Journey – WATER
Offer Clean Water
Everywhere we go in the world we can find a Coca-Cola. That’s because the founder had a dream that every human would have an opportunity to taste his product.
What if we the Church had a burning dream, an unfettered passion that every human had an opportunity to take the Living Water – Jesus Christ?
Did you know?
- Women walk an average of 3.7 miles in Asia to collect water (= roughly 55 football fields)
- 663 million have no access to safe water – this is a combined population of U.S., France, Italy, Russia, Japan, and Canada.
- Every minute a child dies from diarrheal disease caused by contaminated water and poor sanitation.
At 10/40 we have seen men bathe, women wash clothes, cows lounge, and kids swim all the in the same water. We have seen families gather water from the run off water from dirty pipes. We have heard the stories of women who risk their lives physically daily to simply retrieve water from a cleaner source.
We saw that clean water is an initiative that enhances the reputation of community leaders and followers of Jesus. For $900, we can dig a water that goes 150+ feet deep to find a “sweet water” bed in Asia.
We develop partnerships with village leaders and ask for land to be donated where people from all walks of life can partake of the water. They provide the concrete that surrounds the well, and they set a guard to watch over the village well. Because of strong local buy-in, they protect the well for their village, and 100% of our wells are still functioning after many years.
Digging water wells leads to church planting among the least reached.
Offer clean water and spread the Living Water to the unreached.
