Since 2012, many non-profits celebrate a contrast to the days of fun consumerism (Black Friday and Cyber Monday) with the generosity of “Giving Tuesday”. #GivingTuesday takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and is a special call to action to create a global day of giving that brings together diverse organizations and communities around the world to give back.

This past Thanksgiving, we read and meditated on 2 Corinthians 9 where Paul spoke to the Corinthian church about generosity (2 Cor. 9:6-15). So much meat in so few verses. But we resolved in our hearts on Thanksgiving morning to be people who sow generously, with hearts of joy as we give to others.

Look at just a few of the spiritual nuggets God gave us to chew before we feasted on turkey and cranberry sauce.

1. Those who sow generously reap generously.
2. Give with cheerfulness – not out of guilt, obligation, or force.
3. God gives us what we need to help us abound in every good work.
4. When we give abroad to the poor, God causes our righteousness (because of Christ in us!) to endure forever.
5. God will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.
6. We can be generous on every occasion which results in thanksgiving to God!
7. Our gifts meet the needs of God’s people, and cause overflowing thanks to God.
8. People will praise God because of my faith that leads me to give tangibly.

Over the years at 10/40 Connections we have received some larger gifts. But we also receive those consistent donations that come from generous sacrifice. With each thought-filled (or automatic) gift, we thank God. With every donation someone is served. Thanksgiving morning, running in the early morning, we asked God to help us know where we could sow generously at this end of the year. Later that day, we received an unexpected financial gift. We cannot wait to hear God respond!

At 10/40 Connections, we currently have a matching grant of $48,000. Several board members and generous donors helped set up the “front-end.” Would you help us match it, dollar-for-dollar?

With these funds, together we can:
⦁ Stop Spiritual Injustice – Did you know 2 billion people have NEVER heard of Jesus, but the majority of all missionaries and all funds from the Western church go to those within reach of the Gospel? Join 10/40 Connections and help us STOP this spiritual injustice and spread light into the darkest regions of the world with strategic church planting initiatives!

⦁ Serve At-Risk Children – Did you know that worldview develops the most from 4-14 years of age? Help 10/40 feed and educate a child for $2.56 per week through a teacher also equipped as a church planter. Through education, God is helping us spread light into impoverished slum areas and establish house churches!

⦁ Speak for the Voiceless Voice for the Voiceless continues to give voice to both women and the unborn. But in 2016, God did even more. Men also realized the need for their voices to also rise up for the value of both women and the unborn. In 2017, 10/40 hopes to launch this material into three additional nations. Through health seminars, God is enlightening people to the miracle of life and pointing them to the Light of the World.

It’s an amazing journey when we join God by giving tangible resources to bless the world. God forgets not one gift from His people. Instead, he assures us that these acts of righteousness “endure forever” (2 Cor. 9:9).

Until All Know!
