CHINESE ORPHANS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
“He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.”
Deuteronomy 10:18
Throughout Scripture, God highlights the value He places on orphans. In the New Testament, Jesus states, “I will not leave you as orphans, I will come to you” (John 14:18). God wants each person to belong in a family, especially those who are most vulnerable.
For many years local Chinese Christians have given nurture and care to orphans, demonstrating a clear example of the Kingdom of God. Our 10/40 partners in China care for special needs orphans – most of whom have cerebral palsy, other physical issues, or AIDS. The government has recognized the valuable work done and actually encourages the home to continue caring for the children.
Through intensive physical therapy, rehabilitation exercises, occasional surgery, and daily attention to ongoing needs, many of the children gain greater flexibility and range of motion in their limbs. Some learn to walk and feed themselves. Many have quick minds to understand, and some have dreams to become self-dependent and have advanced education.
God loves to see His people reach out to these children who have been created in his image! We highlight this project through our Joy to the World catalog.
